Using without Director

Export for Photoshop

These scripts enable you to publish web-optimized images for the SlideShowPro Player, as well as a requisite XML file, using Adobe Photoshop. This guide will help you install and use the scripts with the SlideShowPro Player.

Step One: Download and install scripts

Download the "Export for Photoshop" zip from the Accessories tab in the Account Center. Unzip the file, and inside will be two files with “.jsx” at the end. Copy or move both of these files to the following location:

(Windows) C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CS4\Presets\Scripts
(Mac OSX) Macintosh HD/Applications/Adobe Photoshop CS4/Presets/Scripts

Note: Substitute “CS4” above with the Creative Suite number you're using if not CS4.

Step Two: Prepare content

There are two ways to export web-optimized content for the SlideShowPro Player from Photoshop. One, use images already opened in Photoshop, or two, use images not already opened in Photoshop using an external folder. If you would rather export images from within Photoshop, open those images now. If you would rather use an external folder, create a new folder anywhere on your computer and copy / move the original images you wish to export to that directory.

Note: The script will crop the file names. To avoid errors keep your file names under 27 characters.

Step Three: Gather dimensions

Launch Flash. If you already have an FLA containing the SlideShowPro Player component, open that FLA now. Otherwise, create a new FLA, drag an instance of SlideShowPro for Flash to the Stage from the Components panel, and resize / style however you like. When complete, write down the dimensions displayed in the “Content Area” text field in the upper-left of SlideShowPro for Flash’s Live Preview, as well as the dimensions of the “Preview Size” thumbnail window above the navigation (see right). We’ll use these dimensions when exporting content from Photoshop.

Step Four: Export from Photoshop

Return to Photoshop, and select File > Scripts > SlideShowPro-Export if exporting images from within Photoshop, or File > Scripts > SlideShowPro-Export-Folder if exporting from a folder of images. Follow the prompts displayed by either script.

Step Five: Publish from Flash

Return to Flash, and save your FLA to the root of the folder you exported content to from Photoshop. Select File > Publish to create an HTML / SWF. Open the HTML document in your web browser. Your images should now be loading!
