Lightroom to SlideShowPro Director Plugin
Page last modified by tdominey on September 24, 2008, at 06:30 AM

Lightroom to SlideShowPro Director is a plugin for Adobe Lightroom and SlideShowPro Director 1.2 that allows you to upload imagery from your Lightroom library to an existing (or new) album inside SlideShowPro Director. It works with both the self-install version of Director 1.2, as well as hosting subscription accounts. Here's how to install and use the plugin.

Step One: Unzip archive

Lightroom to SlideShowPro Director is downloaded as a compressed ZIP file. To decompress, simply double-click on the ZIP. A single file named "director.lrplugin" will be created alongside your ZIP.

Step Two: Install plugin

Move the "director.lrplugin" file to one of the following operating system locations. If your "Lightroom" folder doesn't contain a "Modules" folder, create one.

MAC OS X

Users/[username]/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Lightroom/Modules/

WINDOWS XP

C:\Documents and Settings\[username]\Application Data\Adobe\Lightroom\Modules\

WINDOWS VISTA

C:\Users\[username]\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Lightroom\Modules\
Note: Some of these directories may be hidden in Windows. To reveal, navigate to your user directory and select "Folder Options" from the Tools menu. Click the "View" tab, and toggle on "Show hidden files and folders."

Step Three: Enter API Key

Launch Lightroom. If your version of Lightroom is older than 2.0, select File > Enter SlideShowPro Director API Key. If 2.0 or later, select File > Plugin Extras > Enter SlideShowPro Director API Key. A dialog window will appear that looks like the one below. Keep the dialog open for the next step.

Step Four: Copy API Key/Path

With your web browser open, login to SlideShowPro Director. Click on the "System Info" text link at the top-right of the application. The System Info page will load; displaying an "API Information" box at the bottom of the left column. Click the "Copy" button next to "API Key", switch back to Lightroom, and paste into the "API Key" field. Repeat the process for "API Path." When finished, enter your SlideShowPro Director username and password, then click "OK".

If all goes well, a dialog message will appear after a few seconds to confirm your connection, as shown below.

Step Five: Export Images

Click on the "Library" option at the top right of Lightroom, and select the images you want to upload. You can optionally choose a Folder, Collection, or any type of content grouping. When ready, select File > Export. The "Export" window will appear and use one of Lightroom's export options by default. Click in the large white rectangle at the top right (with the black up/down arrows at the right edge) and select "SlideShowPro Director." You should now see a window similar to the one shown below.

The plugin offers a few simple inputs, including a selector for the album you wish to upload content to (you can create a new album before uploading), how you'd like your files to be named, plus a few miscellaneous options. When finished click the "Export" button at the bottom right.

Done!

Your uploaded imagery should now be in Director, and any slideshow linked to your target album will automatically update with your new content.
