SlideShowPro Director

WordPress Plugin

The SlideShowPro Director plugin for WordPress allows you to post uploaded photos and videos from SlideShowPro Director (or SlideShowPro.com) in a WordPress blog post or page.

Requirements

1) SlideShowPro Director 1.5 or above. (Self install or SlideShowPro.com subscription)
2) WordPress 3.0 or above.

Installation

The plugin may be installed automatically or manually (automatic recommended). Here's how to do both:

Automatic

Sign-in your WordPress installation and select Plugins > Add New from the left column. In the search field type "SlideShowPro", then "Install Now" underneath "SlideShowPro Director Plugin". Walk through the steps to install and activate the plugin, then skip to "Setup" below.

Manual

Download the SlideShowPro Director WordPress Plugin zip.

Extract the downloaded zip file and upload the "ssp-director" folder inside to the wp-content/plugins directory in your WordPress installation. After upload, login to your WordPress Administration panel. Toggle open "Plugins" in the left menu, then click the "Installed" link contained inside. You will be redirected to the Manage Plugins screen. Find "SlideShowPro Director WordPress Plugin" in the list of plugins and click its "Activate" link. You're now ready to setup the plugin.

Setup

To use the plugin you need to enter an API Key and Path for SlideShowPro Director. Toggle open "Settings" in the left column of the WordPress control panel then click on "SlideShowPro". If you do not have your own setup of SlideShowPro Director you may test the plugin using the following:

If you do have SlideShowPro Director, sign-in to your installation (or SlideShowPro.com subscription) and click "System Info" at the top-right. Look for the API Key and Path fields. Copy/paste the Key and Path in the WordPress plugin settings. Click "Save Changes" to complete.

Usage

The plugin adds a small SlideShowPro logo to the "Upload/Insert" row above the post editor. Click it, and a dialogue like the one shown below will appear.

Add image/video
Above: Insert media dialogue

Browse for the photo/video you wish to insert, and click on it (note: only published albums will show in the album dropdown menu). An overlay will show the content's title, caption, and link (if assigned in SlideShowPro Director), plus formatting options. Adjust however you like, then click "Insert" to place the photo/video in your post, or "Insert and Continue" to keep the window open after insertion to select another.

Video support and behavior

In addition to photos you may also insert videos from SlideShowPro Director. Videos are noted in the interface with a small black and white play graphic inside the thumbnail.

If the video you're embedding is encoded using H.264, the plugin will first attempt to insert it using native, HTML5 video playback in the user's web browser (supported by most modern web browsers). If the video cannot be displayed by the browser, the plugin will fallback to a SWF containing the SlideShowPro Player with only its media player interface visible. This gives your videos the best possible coverage and usability across new and old web browsers.
