No, though you should check your web host to find out how much web server space you have available.
Director takes all of your uploaded assets and stores them in a separate directory, and are used as the source material whenever they are needed for a particular application. In other words, if SlideShowPro for Flash requests an image for a thumbnail, Director uses the original image you uploaded and generates a new, optimized duplicate. So all content published by Director is first generation, every time.
When SlideShowPro for Flash requests an album or gallery from Director, it also informs Director what the available dimensions are for the various pieces of content it needs. Director responds with duplicate imagery, based on the originals you uploaded, perfectly formatted to fit the requested dimensions. Change the size of your SlideShowPro for Flash instance, and Director creates more duplicates. This allows you to create as many slideshows as you want, of any size, and change them at any time without having to regenerate content.
No, with the exception of unsharp mask, which is configurable for both large slideshow imagery and thumbnails in SlideShowPro for Flash's Component Inspector panel.

Yes. Director retrieves IPTC caption metadata and can apply it to all images in an album.
