Focal points

A "focal point" is a utility offered by SlideShowPro Director for choosing an area of an image to keep "in focus" whenever manipulations are required when the image is published.

How it works

Because SlideShowPro Director publishes optimized duplicates of your images when requested, there may be times when the target dimensions are different than the original image's aspect ratio; resulting in an image where the most important part of an image may be cropped out. By adjusting the focal point, you can ensure that the area you want to display is always shown, regardless of how the image is reformatted.

How to adjust focal point

By default, the focal point of every image is its center. To change this, navigate to the "Content" screen for a custom album, and double click on the photo you want to edit. The edit image pane will open. You will see a lens graphic over the top of your image (see right). Click on the lens, hold the mouse button down, and move the mouse to where you want the focal point to be. For example, as shown right, you could move the focal point to the center of the subject's face. When finished, release the mouse. Your focal point has now been applied and will be used every time the photo is requested.
