SlideShowPro Director

Slideshow publishing

Using your uploaded photos and videos, SlideShowPro Director publishes a universal media player that's compatible with Flash, iPhone, iPad and Android. This document will cover how slideshows are published and the options available to you.

Embed slideshow

When you're ready to publish a slideshow, click the "Album" or "Gallery" tab in Director's main navigation, then click the "Publish" button next to the album or gallery you wish to display. A window will appear asking if you want to embed a slideshow using Director or copy the content's data for use in one of our SlideShowPro Player products. Click "Embed". You will then see a window similar to one shown right. Set the size you want, style/behavior options, and when finished click "Copy embed code". Your clipboard now contains your slideshow's embed code.

Edit the HTML document where you want the slideshow. Click in the area you want it to appear, then paste. Save the HTML document, load it in your web browser, and you should see a slideshow! Any edits you make from here on out to the album or gallery being loaded in the published slideshow will automatically appear in your embedded slideshow.

Mobile fallback player

The slideshow you see is running in the Flash Player plugin using the SlideShowPro Player. It is viewable to everyone on the desktop, but for mobile users with iPods, iPhones, iPads and/or Android devices, SlideShowPro Director makes an HTML5 media player available instead. All the same content from your Flash slideshow is used and formatted for the screen size of the mobile device. To see the mobile player, fire up your iPhone, iPad or Android device and load the HTML document embedding the slideshow.

Mobile poster

poster

With the slideshow loaded on your mobile device, instead of the Flash slideshow you'll see a "poster preview" of your slideshow. The poster (example shown right) includes a preview image of the slideshow content along with its title and description. You can edit the style of the poster Director creates, make your own poster, or skip the poster entirely and auto-forward users to the mobile player. We provide complete instructions for all of the aforementioned here.

Updating

Now that your slideshow has been embedded, any edits you make in Director to the source album or gallery will appear automatically. So from now on you can upload new content, delete content, change order, whatever you like. Your web site's gallery will always update.

Use with your own custom slideshows

If you use SlideShowPro Player for Flash to build custom slideshows that load SlideShowPro Director content, you can publish your own SWF and use it instead of SlideShowPro Director's SWF while still retaining the HTML5 mobile fallback player. We provide instructions for doing so here.

If you're using SlideShowPro Player for Lightroom or SlidePress to publish a slideshow, both products create player embed code (when loading SlideShowPro Director content) that works automatically with Director's mobile fallback player.
