Extra options

Inside the "Output Settings" panel are a few additional publishing options not covered in previous chapters. Here's what they are and what they do.

Cache content

OPTIONS/Cache Content helps speed up the load time of images in your slideshow by pre-fetching subsequent images ahead of the one currently in view. images is invisibly loaded into the browser cache, and will instantly load instead of displaying a preloader animation. The parameter is set to "None" by default. Additional options include "Only Images" which will cache slideshow images and thumbnails (but not videos), "Only Thumbnails" which caches only thumbnails, and "All" which caches everything (including videos).

Expand browser window

OPTIONS/Expand Browser Window will forcibly modify the width/height of the end-user's browser window so that it fills the maximum amount of screen real estate available on their display. This option comes in handy for those who are publishing large slideshows, and need to ensure that browser windows loading their content are large enough to adequately display them. This option is toggled off by default.

Keyboard control

OPTIONS/Keyboard Control binds keys on a user's keyboard for navigating a slideshow. This is turned on by default. Keys include:

F: Engage full screen
G: Open/close gallery
N: Hide/show navigation bar
Left arrow: Load previous content
Up arrow: Skip to next content link group
Right arrow: Load next content
Down arrow: Skip to previous content link group
Space Bar: Pause/auto-play playback

Permalinks

"Permalink" is a term coined from the weblog world to describe URLs that take users directly to content that's part of a larger group. SlideShowPro for Lightroom offers permalink functionality by automatically updating the browser's location bar with unique URLs to the slideshow content currently in view. This allows you to copy a URL directly to an image, share it with someone else, or use it as a hyperlink from a separate HTML document, and SlideShowPro will start with that content.

To enable permalinks, set OPTIONS/Permalinks to "On." By default this option is set to "Off."

Full Screen Reformat

The OPTIONS/Full Screen Reformat parameter dictates whether SlideShowPro for Lightroom will request the alternate set of full screen images that are published for you. Leaving this "On" will load the alternate set when a user enters full screen mode, while turning it "Off" will load the regular slideshow images.
