SlideShowPro Standalone is a compiled version of the SlideShowPro Player distributed as a SWF file that can embedded in any HTML document. You use it to display photo galleries, slideshows and video players just like you would with the Flash and Lightroom versions, except with Standalone all parameter edits happen through your own XML file, the Flash Player embed code, or with our free SlidePress plugin for WordPress.
If you have not purchased SlideShowPro Standalone, we recommend downloading the Standalone trial. If you have purchased Standalone, you can download it through your profile page in the Account Center.
Once you have the ZIP downloaded, unpack the ZIP and open the "READ ME" text document in the root. It explains the content contained therein.
SlideShowPro Standalone can be embedded in any HTML document using standard SWF embedding techniques. That said, we highly recommend using the SWFObject javascript library to do so. We use it for all the examples in the ZIP download and will also use it here in the Standalone documentation. See Embedding to learn how.
SlideShowPro Standalone can load slideshow content from three sources: images/videos and an XML file created by you, albums/galleries in SlideShowPro Director, and Media RSS feeds. For optimum ease-of-use and control, we highly recommend using SlideShowPro Director, which was built from the ground-up to facilitate all the content needs of the SlideShowPro media player. If you want to create your own slideshow content, we explain how to do so in Content.
The SlideShowPro player has nearly 150 parameters, all of which can be customized to your liking. In the aforementioned "Examples" directory in the ZIP download we provide examples of the player modified various ways, and demonstrate the two methods for editing player parameters (separate XML file and with flashvars). You can read more information in Parameters.
If you're a WordPress user, SlidePress is a plugin we developed for embedding, editing, and publishing slideshows leveraging SlideShowPro Standalone. The plugin is free with your purchase of Standalone. For more information on Slidepress, see the SlidePress instructions.
Ready to get started? We recommend starting with the Embedding overview to learn how to embed the SWF in your web page. Once embedded, we'll then cover how to assign content, and from there an overview of how slideshow customization works in Parameters.
