Installation

Note: As of June 28, 2011 we are no longer supporting SlidePress or selling the SlideShowPro Player SWF product it uses. For legacy users we are keeping this support documentation online. If you have any questions or concerns click the 'Email support staff' link in the left column.

There are two ways to install SlidePress: manually or automatically. We recommend the automatic option, but you may also install manually if necessary.

Installing automatically (WordPress 2.7 or higher required)

Login to your WordPress Administration panel. In the left menu you will see a "Plugins" option. Toggle it open, and click "Add New" inside. You will be redirected to the Install Plugins screen.

Type "SlidePress" into the search field and click "Search Plugins." After a couple of seconds you will see SlidePress in a table with an "Install" link at the far right. Click "Install." A box will display describing information about SlidePress, such as Description, Installation, Screenshots and FAQs. On that same box you will see a big red "Install Now" button. Click that button. SlidePress will install and return confirmation that looks like the following:

At the bottom of the confirmation will be an "Activate Plugin" link. Click it to finish the plugin installation.

SlidePress is now installed and activated. You're now ready to upload the SlideShowPro player.

Installing manually

Download the SlidePress zip package from the WordPress Plugin Directory.

Extract the downloaded zip file and upload the "slidepress" folder inside to the wp-content/plugins directory in your WordPress installation. After uploading, your plugins directory should look like the folder structure shown to the right (please note your installation may include other plugins not shown here).

After upload, login to your WordPress Administration panel. Toggle open "Plugins" in the left menu, then click the "Installed" link contained inside. You will be redirected to the Manage Plugins screen. Find SlidePress in the list of plugins and click its "Activate" link. You're now ready to upload the SlideShowPro player.

SWF upload

After the plugin activates you'll see a warning message at the top instructing you to upload the SlideShowPro Player SWF SWF. If you haven't purchased SlideShowPro Player SWF, you can download a free trial of the Player SWF to use with WordPress, or go ahead and purchase SlideShowPro Player SWF. If you already have an account, you may purchase through your account center profile.

When you have the Player ZIP, download the product zip and extract it on your desktop. Inside will be a folder named "Embed" which contains a file named "slideshowpro.swf". This is the file we'll be uploading.

Upload SWF through browser

1. Click the upload link in the WordPress warning message or the "Setup" link in the SlidePress panel.

2. You should now be at the SlidePress "Setup" page. At the top will be a "Browse" button under the "SlideShowPro Player Upload" header. Click the button, and select the "slideshowpro.swf" file from your desktop.

3. When the SWF upload completes, scroll down and click the "Save changes" button at the bottom of the Setup page.

Upload via FTP

1. Through your FTP client, navigate to the wp-content/uploads directory. When the plugin activated, it should have created the directory slidepress/flash inside. If you don't see one, create one yourself. When complete you should have wp-content/uploads/slidepress/flash folder on your server.

2. Upload the "slideshowpro.swf" file from your desktop to the wp-content/uploads/slidepress/flash directory.

3. Return to the "Manage Plugins" screen in WordPress and refresh your browser. The warning message at the top should disappear.

Done!

You should now be able to see the SlidePress plugin fully installed on your WordPress admin panel. Now that you have SlidePress setup, let's build a slideshow.
