Here are some solutions to common issues when thumbnail images appears blurry and/or low quality.
Starting with ThumbGrid 2.1, all content that is requested by a slideshow using SlideShowPro Director receive images that are automatically formatted to fit the exact image dimensions ThumbGrid requires. This gives you optimum image results every time.
If you are using a version of ThumbGrid 2 that is older than 2.1, and are loading content from SlideShowPro Director, we recommend downloading the latest version of ThumbGrid, installing it, and using it instead.
If you are using any version of ThumbGrid 1.x, we recommend purchasing a ThumbGrid 2 upgrade. If that's not possible, the next tip will likely help.
If the images being loaded are not formatted for the dimensions shown in the live preview of the component instance on the Stage, then ThumbGrid will forcibly scale the images to fit. And anytime that happens (especially when upscaling) some image quality loss can occur.
If you are using ThumbGrid 1.x with SlideShowPro Director, image sizes are assigned in the SlideShowPro Player's settings using NAVIGATION LINK PREVIEWS/Size. Make sure those values are the same as what is displayed in ThumbGrid's live preview. Also make sure that the SlideShowPro Player's NAVIGATION LINK PREVIEWS/Scale is set to the same value as ThumbGrid's Scale setting so they're formatted the way ThumbGrid expects them to be.
If you are creating your own images, make sure that the images you are creating match ThumbGrid's expected size and scale. For example, if you have SCREEN:ALBUM/Scale parameter set to "Crop to Fit" and the live preview displays 80x60 as the image size, that's the exact size your images have to be. If you have Scale set to "Proportional", your images need to be proportionally scaled using the longest side. Again using 80x60 as our example size, if your image were 1280x720, you'd change "1280" to "80" when downsizing in your photo editor.
If you plan on using the "Zoom" functionality of ThumbGrid, your thumbnail images will be forcibly upscaled by the percentage value assigned to ThumbGrid's THUMB BEHAVIOR/Zoom Scale parameter. If you want the best quality in this state, then multiply the thumbnail width/height values shown in ThumbGrid's live preview by the value assigned to Zoom Scale to achieve your target dimension.
For example, if ThumbGrid displays "75 x 50" as the thumbnail size, and Zoom Scale is set to 2, you should create images that are 150 x 100.
