Requirements

What do I need in order to use ThumbGrid?

You need the :stapi: component (ActionScript 3, version number 1.8.9.6 or higher) and Adobe Flash CS3 or higher.

Can I use ThumbGrid by itself?

No. The component is designed to complement :stapi: and does not have the ability to load data on its own.

Is both ActionScript 2 and 3 supported?

No. ThumbGrid is ActionScript 3 only, so it is only compatible with SWFs that are published using the ActionScript 3 language.

Will there be an ActionScript 2 version?

No.

Do I need to know anything about ActionScript in order to use ThumbGrid?

That depends on how much customization you plan on doing. If you simply want a scrolling interface where only the mouse pointer interacts with the thumbnail grid, then no. If you want to include buttons that interface with the component (for things like next thumb, previous thumb, etc) then yes. The ActionScript is however very light, and we provide plenty of documentation and downloadable examples showing how buttons are setup.

What versions of the Flash Player support ThumbGrid?

SWFs containing ThumbGrid may be published to Flash Player 9 or higher and with a language setting of "ActionScript 3.0".
