"Titles" are elements that display the textual title assigned to the album, image or video that is associated with the thumbnail. This chapter covers everything you need to know about them.
Before using Titles, you should first make sure the content that the SlideShowPro player is loading has them assigned. You can edit this in your own XML file by adding a title element to all your album and ::img:: elements, or assign them to content using SlideShowPro Director's interface.
Titles are completely off by default for thumbnails in both the Gallery and Album screens (see Layout for screen info). To turn them on, edit TITLES/Appearance by choosing "Gallery", "Album" or "All". When choosing "Gallery", titles only appear in thumbnail elements on the Gallery screen. "Album" behaves the same for the Album screen, while "All" displays titles for both.
There are three title styles to choose from using the TITLE/Style parameter: "Inline", "Layer" and "Layer Rollover".
"Inline" renders the title text field inside the thumbnail element's background, which in-turn crops the space where the image is displayed. The screenshot below illustrates Inline titles.

"Layer" and "Layer Rollover" titles are rendered on top of the thumbnail element using a semi-transparent background. "Layer" produces static titles that are always visible, while "Layer Rollover" only shows the title layer when the thumbnail is rolled over with the mouse. The screenshot below illustrates the Layer style.

After you decide on the type of Titles you want to show, and with which content, you can then apply all sorts of design changes to them; including color, alpha transparency, text alignment, text shadows, size, and more. We recommend checking out the Style guide chapter for a visual overview of the parameters that affect each.
So that's how Titles work. Next we're going to cover the topic of component navigation, which will discuss the variety of ways you move through content in ThumbGrid.
